The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national disability insurance program in Australia. The NDIS is the largest single-payer, integrated service delivery system in the world. The program was initiated in 2013 and is being implemented over a four-year period.

The purpose of the NDIS is to enable eligible people to be more independent in their lives and in accessing and using the support, health and education services that they need. The NDIS was introduced after much public debate. At the time the scheme was NDIS proposed, the NDIS would provide people with disability $22,000 per year. This money will cover a range of services, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and personal assistance. In addition, the NDIS offers financial support to businesses to enable them to implement new ways to make their premises and services more accessible for people with disability.

People with disability who receive funding from the NDIS can receive help with anything that makes their life better. For example, people with disability can attend training courses to learn about a range of topics, such as how to drive a car, cook, use computers, play sports, or learn a language.

If you are eligible for the NDIS, you can apply for a disability support package.
