University of Medicine in China
Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, is home to Medical Universities in China (CMU), which holds the distinction of being the first medical school to be founded by the Chinese Communist Party (CPC). In addition to this, it is one of the earliest medical schools that taught western medical practices to its students. The Military Medical School of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army was the institution that served as the University’s forerunner. It was established in November 1931 in Ruijin, which is located in Jiangxi Province.
Since its inception, China Medical University has been responsible for the education of more than 90 thousand senior medical professionals. Its graduates can be found all around China as well as in a large number of other nations and areas. Many of them have gone on to become senior leaders in the management of national health systems as well as famous medical professionals.
The College of Medical Basic Sciences, the College of Medical Clinical Sciences, the College of Biology, the College of Stomatology, the College of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and the College of Nursing are the six primary fields in which CMU is currently accredited to confer doctoral degrees.
Additionally, it possesses 40 national key clinical specialty construction projects of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, 6 first-class distinctive disciplines of universities and colleges in Liaoning, 7 mobile post-doctoral stations, and 21 undergraduate specialties. In addition, it has five national key academic disciplines and one national key academic discipline in cultivation.
The library at CMU serves as the hub for the Northeast China region of the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s (NHFPC) National Medical Literature Resources Sharing Network. In addition to that, it serves as the referee unit for medical science and technology at the NHFPC, where they verify for originality and plagiarism. The library’s collection consists of 1,195,600 physical books and 21 terabytes worth of digital materials. It has access to 35 full-text book and journal database subscriptions in Chinese as well as other languages.
The library, which is known as the National Japanese Medical Literature Centre Library, features an exceptionally extensive collection of Japanese medical literature. The Laboratory Animal Centre is the provincial center for quality monitoring of experimental animals as well as the supporting unit of the provincial main laboratory for transgenic animals. All of these responsibilities fall within the purview of the Ministry of Agriculture. CMU sponsors 16 scholarly periodicals.
The new campus of CMU can be found in the Shenbei neighborhood, which is situated to the northeast of Shenyang city and is roughly an hour’s drive from the city’s central business district. A total land area of 1,372,000 square meters is occupied by the new campus, and the total building area is 702,800 square meters.
